Player Killers

This article explains the mechanics and consequences of killing other players, including the bounty system and death penalties for murderers (commonly known as red players or player killers (PK)).

The Bounty System

A bounty is a reward offered for the death of a murderer.

Placing a Bounty

If you are killed by a red player, you will be given the option to place a bounty on their head. The amount you choose is paid from your bank and added to any existing bounty on that murderer.

The top 10 bounties can be tracked on the Bounty Board, which are typically found at city banks.
Also the top 10 player killers wear their bounty rank above their name.

Claiming a Bounty

To claim a bounty, a player must kill the wanted murderer. * Kill the red player. * Use a blade on their corpse to retrieve their head. * Hand the head to any town guard

The guard will reward you with the bounty amount, minus a tax of 50%.

Penalties for Murderers

Being a red player comes with significant risks and penalties.

Resurrection Cost

If you die as a red player, resurrection comes with a cost. The fee is calculated with the following formula:

Resurrection Cost = (500gp * Short-Term Kills) + Total Bounty

PK lock

When a red is reported after killing someone, they will become PVP Locked against all blues for 2 hours. This means that the red char can not do any harmful action towards blue/innocent playersas well as their pets.
Innocents will see a yellow [PK Locked] tag.
Beware: IF A BLUE ATTACKS A PK LOCKED RED, THEY WILL FORFEIT THE LOCK PROTECTION

Kill Counts

The game tracks two types of kills to determine your status and penalties:

  • Long-Term Kills: These determine your alignment.
    • 0-4 Kills: You are a lawful citizen (blue).
    • 5+ Kills: You are a murderer (red).
    • One long-term kill decays after 40 hours of in-game time.
  • Short-Term Kills: These determine your resurrection penalty. Each kill adds 500gp to your base resurrection cost.
    • One short-term kill decays after 8 hours of in-game time.
