Fishing

Fishing is a standard skill in UO Sagas. With it, players can catch fish, special nets, ship wreck loot, and even tough sea creatures, depending on skill level.

Fishing lets players find creatures and items from the ocean. You’ll need a fishing pole to begin, and then target water tiles (shore, dock, or deep sea). What you pull out depends on your Fishing skill, distance from shore, and some luck.

Typical uses include:

• Gathering raw fish for Cooking or vender sale
• Pulling up special fish (stat-boosting, rare types)
• Generating sea monsters via deep sea fishing, special nets, or rare spawns through ancient fishing nets
• Catching Messages in a Bottle (MIBs) and ancient bottles
• Landing Big Fish trophies

• Skill range is 0-100 and can be raised up to 120 with Skill Scrolls.

Starting Fishing

1. Equip a Fishing Pole. NOTE: You must be dismounted before you can fish.
2. Double click your fishing pole, then target a water tile (shore, dock, or sea).
3. If successful, something will be caught and appear in your backpack.
4. If unsuccessful, you will get a “You fish a while, but fail to catch anything”.
5. NOTE: You may fish while using the Hide skill.

Deep Sea Fishing

A Boating will be required to sail to deeper waters, generally over 20 tiles from any coastline.

Fishing in Deep-Water can pull up:

• Sea Serpents and Deep Sea Serpents. These have an increased chance to drop special fishing nets, Messages in Bottles, and Ancient Messages in Bottles.
• Using special nets trigger monster spawns for sea serpents and deep sea serpents, while fabled fishing nets can spawn a very tough leviathan.
• At 100 Fishing, you gain the chance for MIBs, water-stained SOS messages, or Ancient MIBs to drop from Sea Serpents, Deep Sea Serpents, and Krakens/Leviathans.
• NOTE: If you are fishing in deep water, afk scripting for fishing is monitored and may flag your character for inspection by a GM.

Higher quality fishing poles can be crafted to increase your effective fishing through Carpentry.
