Peacemaking/Discordance) or Musicianship if the song is a Repertoire song (ie. Song of Light.) * **Cooldown:** After you play a bard song there is a cooldown before you can play another song of any type. Each bard song below has the cooldown listed. ---- ===== Bard Level ===== To level up your "Bard Level" you must earn Barding Points. On each level up, the bard gets 1 point he can spend on the duration or the potency for one skill based song he has in his Songbook. This is on average enough to bring 2 of the 4 available skill based songs to max duration and max potency. \\ ==== Barding Points ==== Bard points are earned as follows: * Damage done by the bard: 50% of damage done a self pacified target is converted to barding points. * Damage by other players: 25% of damage done by others to a pacified target is converted to barding points. * Damage done by provoked mobs: 50% of the damage that results from provocation divided by 2. * Healing with the ''SongOfHealing'' grants 1pt per hitpoint healed. * Discordance bonus damage (also via other people) is converted to barding points. ---- ===== Songs and Skill Checks ===== There are 2 kinds of songs: * Songs that depend on a specific skill * ''Song of Provocation'' * ''Song of Peacemaking'' * ''Song of Discordance'' * ''Song of Healing'' For these songs, first a skill check for Musicianship is done. If the Musicianship check is successful, a skill check for the specific skill is done. Also, those songs can be leveled up in Duration and Potency (see Songbook). Duration and Potency can be leveled up to 8. Duration and Potency of the base bard songs Provocation, Peacemaking and Discordance can also be raised by 1 per Skill Mastery Perk Virtuoso level. So the maximum Duration and Potency is 16 or the base bard songs and 8 for the others (currently Healing). * Besides the skill dependant songs, there are others that get activated by the Perk Repertoire: * ''Song of Light'' * ''Song of Fortune'' For these songs, only a skill check for Musicianship is done. In numbers, this varies from a value from 25 (weak) to 180 (strongest). For Song of Healing, the difficulty is 115 fixed. ==== Provocation/Peacemaking/Discordance/Healing skill check bonuses ==== * Every skill point above 100 Musicianship reduces the difficulty by 1 (max 20) * '''Instrument Quality:''' Exceptional Quality reduces the difficulty by 5 * '''Instrument tune bonus:''' directly adds to the skill value * '''Every Level in Potency reduces the difficulty by 3''' (max 8x3=24) * '''Virtuoso Perk:''' every level in Virtuoso adds 1 to the Potency bonus (so another 8x3=24) ---- ==== Example calculation ==== Let's calculate the possible maximum of bonuses a player can reach: * 20 musicianship bonus (1 point for every skill point above 100, so max 20 when at 120 skill) * 5 instrument quality bonus (exceptional) * 24 song potency bonus (2/lvl: 3 * 8 points in song potency) * 24 song potency boost via Virtuoso (with lvl 8 in Perk Virtuoso) * = 73 bonus The strongest mobs would have a difficulty of 180: * 180 - 73 = 107 difficulty * skillcheck will be 120 against minskill 82 (107-25) and maxskill 132 (107+25) * chances = (skill - minSkill) / (maxSkill - minSkill) * chances = (120 - 82) / (132 - 82) = 38 / 50 = 76% With magic instrument (skill bonus): * 5 bonus: chances = (125 - 82) / (137 - 82) = 43 / 55 = 78% * 10 bonus: chances = (130 - 82) / (142 - 82) = 48 / 60 = 80% * 15 bonus: chances = (135 - 82) / (147 - 82) = 53 / 65 = 82% * 20 bonus: chances = (140 - 82) / (152 - 82) = 58 / 70 = 83% * 25 bonus: chances = (145 - 82) / (157 - 82) = 63 / 75 = 84% \\ ---- ==== Mid game example ==== A mob with 100 (Lich) difficulty with a bard at 100 skill and: * 5 exceptional instrument bonus * 6 song potency bonus * 6 skill mastery bonus (Virtuoso) * = 17 bonus * 100 - 17 = 83 difficulty * skillcheck will be 100 against minskill 58 (83-25) and maxskill 108 (83+25) * chances = (100 - 58) / (108 - 58) = 42 / 50 = 84% * with 10 skill bonus from an instrument: * chances = (110 - 58) / (118 - 58) = 52 / 60 = 87% \\ ===== Skill Mastery ===== There is also a [[character:skill_masteries:main|Skill Mastery]] for [[character:skill_masteries:musicianship|Musicianship]] that boosts the Bards abilities.
